Microdosing can be a powerful tool for mental clarity and focus, but it is not suitable for everyone. On this page, you will learn exactly in which situations you should not start, what side effects may occur, and what to do if you are unsure. Whether you are considering microdosing for the first time or are already a user, this is the information you need to act safely and consciously.
On this page:
Psilocybin affects the serotonin system in the brain. In certain psychological and physical conditions, this may carry risks. Do not microdose if one or more of the following situations apply to you:
Physical Conditions
Age Restriction: Psilocybin truffles are intended exclusively for individuals aged 18 years and older. This applies without exception, even if a parent or guardian has given permission.
Psilocybin may have potentially dangerous interactions with certain medications. Never use psilocybin truffles if you are currently using, or have recently used, any of the following:
Are you taking medication and unsure whether microdosing is safe for you? Always consult a physician first. We are happy to provide guidance, but we are not a substitute for professional medical advice.
Most people experience microdosing as mild. However, temporary side effects can occur, especially in the beginning. This is often a sign that the dosage is slightly too high or that your body is still adjusting. Common side effects include:
What should you do if you experience side effects? Reduce your dosage to half a serving for the next three dosing days. If you would like to start more cautiously, consider beginning the first week of your protocol with a lower dose and gradually increasing it over time. If symptoms persist or become more severe, stop taking the product immediately and contact us. Severe or ongoing side effects are a sign that you should not continue without professional guidance.
Microdosing is not a solution for everyone, but for the right person in the right circumstances, it can be a valuable tool. You may be a suitable candidate if:
Microdosing is often explored by people who want to take a more intentional approach to focus, creativity, mental resilience, or personal development. If none of the contraindications listed above apply to you, and you are healthy, well-informed, and over the age of 18, microdosing may be something worth exploring further.
Microdosing works best when approached as a protocol rather than a quick fix. Those who create structure, observe themselves carefully, and maintain realistic expectations tend to get the most out of the experience. Fungki has developed three protocols to support your microdosing journey. These protocols are guidelines, not rigid rules. Microdosing affects everyone differently. The purpose of a protocol is not to limit you, but to prevent dosing too frequently or taking more than necessary. Doing so is unnecessary and often counterproductive. Observe yourself. Adjust the schedule based on your own experience. And if you’re ever unsure about how much to take, ask us. We’d rather answer one question too many than have you take one dose too many.
Beginners Protocol: the Fadiman Protocol
The Beginner’s Protocol is the recommended starting point for anyone new to microdosing. It follows the well-known Fadiman Protocol: one day of microdosing followed by two rest days. These rest days are not optional. Your body and mind need time to experience and integrate the effects. This rhythm is repeated for two months, after which you take a two to four week break to reset your system.
The Beginner’s Protocol contains 3 packs with a total of 18 microdoses, enough to complete the full protocol. Each pack contains 6 carefully dosed Fungki® truffles of 1 gram each. Freshly sealed and stored in optimal conditions, they remain fresh for 2 to 3 months when kept refrigerated.

Can I microdose while taking antidepressants?
No, we do not recommend it. Antidepressants—particularly SSRIs, SNRIs, and MAO inhibitors—may interact with psilocybin and affect its effects. Always consult your physician before stopping medication or starting a microdosing protocol.
Can I microdose if I have an anxiety disorder?
For severe anxiety disorders, we advise against microdosing. Psilocybin may temporarily intensify feelings of anxiety. In cases of mild stress or anxiety within an otherwise stable situation, the answer may be different, but this should always be discussed with a qualified healthcare professional.
Is microdosing safe if I have autism?
People on the autism spectrum may process psilocybin differently from neurotypical individuals. Because the effects can be less predictable, we generally advise against microdosing in this situation or recommend extreme caution under the supervision of a qualified specialist.
What if I don’t feel well on a dosing day?
Skip that dosing day. Your mental and physical state at the time of use has a direct influence on your experience. Microdosing works best when approached from a stable, calm baseline.
Can I combine microdosing with alcohol?
No. We do not recommend combining alcohol and psilocybin, even in small amounts. Avoid alcohol on or immediately around your dosing days.
Is microdosing dangerous?
When used responsibly—with the right dosage, the right protocol, and no contraindications—microdosing with psilocybin truffles is generally considered safe for healthy adults. Psilocybin is not physically addictive, and the truffles used by Fungki are legally available in the Netherlands. The risks are rarely found in the product itself, but rather in using it without proper preparation, awareness, or context. That is why Fungki offers structured protocols rather than standalone products. Structure creates consistency, and consistency helps reduce risk.
