From microdosing truffles to a truffle ceremony: when are you ready for the next step?

Written by

Rosa (Stars Frequencies)

There’s a moment many microdosers recognize. The cycle is going well. You feel more focus, more calm, more control over your day. Microdosing is no longer a loose experiment, but something you integrate into your life — a rhythm that moves with your work, your energy, and your development.

And yet, there often comes a point where you notice: it works — and at the same time, it feels like there’s more to it.

That feeling usually doesn’t mean microdosing isn’t working. It means you’ve built a foundation. Your system has adapted to the subtle changes and may be ready — if you choose — to go a layer deeper.

Macrodosing, the same substance but in a higher dose, offers something different. Not a daily rhythm, but a focused experience. Not integration, but depth. At Fungki, we don’t see this as a replacement, but as an addition — for moments when you consciously choose to explore what lies beneath the surface.

What microdosing truffles does — and where it reaches its limits

Microdosing works in subtle ways. It can enhance neural plasticity, stabilize your mood, improve focus, and help you notice patterns you might otherwise overlook. It supports gradual, step-by-step changes in your daily life.

At the same time, you’re still operating within your existing frameworks. You become clearer and more aware, but the deeper layers often remain at a distance. You may see them, and sometimes feel them — but fully processing them tends to happen less easily.

And that’s exactly where, for many people, the next step begins: a truffle ceremony with a macrodose.

My first step (from micro to macro)

In the beginning, I found psychedelics quite intimidating. The idea of letting go of control and not knowing what might come up felt big. That’s why I started with microdosing. It gave me a calm, accessible way to feel what it did for me, and to build trust with truffles.

From that place of trust, curiosity started to grow. Step by step, I noticed that my system could handle more. For many people I work with, the process unfolds in a very similar way.

What makes a truffle ceremony different

With a ceremonial dose — typically up to 25 grams of fresh truffles — psilocybin works differently than in microdosing. The Default Mode Network, which maintains your sense of self and control, temporarily softens. This creates more space to observe without your usual filters.

People often describe a truffle ceremony as:

  • Seeing more clearly what’s really going on
  • Recognizing patterns that have been present for years
  • Experiencing a deep sense of connectionAllowing stuck emotions to be felt and move again

You come closer to what’s truly there, instead of just looking at it from a distance.

“But what if I lose control?”

This is the question I hear most often. The short answer: losing control can feel dangerous. In reality, letting go is different from losing control. You’re not going anywhere you can’t come back from — you’re actually moving closer to yourself. What matters far more than the substance itself is the guidance. That’s what makes the difference between an overwhelming experience and a healing one. Daniël, who also found this very confronting, describes it like this:

For a long time, I was afraid of a ceremony like this. Afraid of losing control and scared of what might come up. I feared a bad trip I wouldn’t be able to get out of. Rosa guided me through it with ease. She holds a space where you don’t have to perform or understand anything, and she senses exactly when someone needs a gentle push or should simply be left alone. Her professionalism isn’t in big words, but in how safe you feel with her.”

“But a group setting isn’t for me”

I understand that. A lot of people feel this way. The idea of others being present while you’re going through something personal can feel vulnerable. What I see in practice is that the group is small — a maximum of 8 people — and everyone is so immersed in their own experience that you barely notice the others. At the same time, there’s something unique about the collective field — something that’s harder to access on your own. Martijn had his doubts as well:

The idea of doing this in a group didn’t feel right for me at first. But in the end, it turned out to be one of the most beautiful parts of the experience. The group was small and felt right from the beginning. Nothing was forced, and because everyone was so deep in their own journey, I wasn’t distracted in mine. And when some people shared their experiences at the end, it gave me even more insights.”

If a group setting still doesn’t feel right, there are also options for a private group or a one-on-one guided session. Feel free to reach out and explore what suits you best.

When are you ready?

There’s no fixed rule. These are the signals I see most often:

  • You’ve completed one or more microdosing cycles and feel you’re ready for more
  • There’s something you want to face or let go of, and it keeps coming back
  • You feel a desire for an experience that brings you out of your head and into your body
  • You’re curious about what lies beneath the surface
  • You feel emotionally stable enough to go into this experience
